It is the goal of Downey High School to have every senior graduate with an awareness of the necessary steps he/she will need to take in order to enter the next phase of his/her life.  The senior exit project is designed for you to complete during the four years that you are a student at DHS.  This project will be career oriented and help you identify a career of interest and then complete a series of activities that will lead you to the next step in your career preparation after high school.  The project will consist of a written paper, fieldwork, and a multimedia presentation.

9th Grade

• Research career clusters and career paths using the Eureka computer program

• Complete the Career Path Exploration Worksheet

10th Grade

• Take Career Cruising Career Matchmaker Assessment an interactive survey designed to match your interests with a career

• Complete comprehensive career search using the career cruising computer program

• Complete Career Cruising Worksheet

• Complete part 2 of the “Reflection” essay

11th Grade

• Visit the CDM Career Zone Website to complete the 11th grade Senior Exit Project

• Review your career file from your 9^th and 10^th year and establish your career cluster, career path and occupation

• Complete an income survey

• Answer questions about two occupations in your career path

• Write reflective essay

• Complete 11th Grade Worksheet

12th Grade

• Create a resume

• Using the reflective sections you produced after each grade level activity, create a comprehensive reflective essay

• Complete the Senior Exit Project Worksheet
