Brief Biography:  Became a counselor after teaching business education and social studies for 16 years at East Middle School and Downey High School.  Spent one year as the sixth grade counselor at Sussman Middle School.

Brief Biography:  I grew up in Downey and was a graduate from Warren High School. I started working at Downey High School in 1994 as a Resource Specialist.  I had the opportunity to coach the JV Boy’s Tennis Team for a couple of years.  I enjoy spending time with the students and faculty here at DHS.

Hobbies:  Spending time with my family, going to Dodgers' games, guitar, fishing

Brief Biography:  I worked for six years as an Instructional Assistant for Montebello Unified School District where I worked with English Language Learners and provided instruction in the school’s computer lab.  I also worked for Paramount Unified School District as a special education Instructional Assistant for adults with moderate/severe disabilities and later became a Counseling Assistant for high-risk students in the Opportunity Class.

Brief Biography:  Nicole Gunnette grew up in the city of Downey.  She graduated from Warren High School and then furthered her studies at CSULB where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English Education.  After student teaching at Downey High School,  Nicole spend a semester teaching English at Gahr High School.  She then returned to Downey High where she taught English for 8 years.

Brief Biography:  Taught elementary school grades K-5 at Ward Elementary, Alameda Elementary, Meadow Park Elementary, and Carpenter Elementary for a total of ten years.  Served as the School Improvement Resource Specialist at Carpenter Elementary School for three years.  Taught language arts, World History, and American History at West Middle School for eight years before coming to DHS.

Brief Biography:  I am a proud product of the Downey Unified School System.  I attended Roger Casier Elementary, North Junior High, and Warren High School.  I have three handsome sons, and two beautiful granddaughters.  I began my teaching career at Griffiths in 1988, teaching life science and later, counseling.
